Britain has seen an unprecedented case in which UK Conservative Party MP Bob Stewart was found guilty of racial abuse for telling an activist to “go back to Bahrain.”
During a dispute with Bahraini activist Sayed Ahmed Alwadaei, the MP said the following: “You’re taking money off my country, go away!”
Alwadaei further asked the MP: “for how much did you sell yourself to the Bahraini regime?”
Stewart then sharply replied: “Go away, I hate you. You make a lot of fuss. Go back to Bahrain.”
The situation continued in the courtroom, where clashes continued, but it seems to have ended there.
Paul Goldspring, chief magistrate at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, found Stewart guilty of racially aggravated public order offences, but he will not be remanded in prison.
