The Greek island of Symi officials claimed to have discovered the body of British TV presenter and health advocate Michael Mosley, Reuters reported.
Mosley, 67, went missing on Wednesday after he took a stroll alone on a coastal path in scorching heat. He was on the island with his wife. Cameras last recorded him alive at 1.30 p.m. local time on Wednesday. Today deputy mayor Nikitas Grillis said, pending official identification, that “It is certainly him.”
Police spokeswoman Constantina Dimoglidou earlier said the body of a man, likely Mosley, recovered in the neighbourhood of Agia Marina, north of the village of Pedi and opposite the north-eastern beach of Agios Nikolaos, where Mosley had gone for a walk.
Symi mayor Lefteris Papakalodoukas said the discovery followed him and others, including journalists from state television ERT, filmed the area from a boat. Despite, it is not yet clear whether he had been in an accident or felt unwell, according to the Mayor.
He stated: “We analysed the recorded evidence and it was obvious that it was, unfortunately, Mosley. He was found 10 metres away from the sea, 10-15 metres from his destination, the beach of Agia Marina, between a fence and a path.”
Mosley has appeared on British programmes including the BBC series Trust Me, I’m a Doctor, the BBC’s The One Show and ITV’s This Morning. He popularised the 5:2 diet, which endorses intermittent fasting.
