Bulgaria has started transporting 100 armoured personnel carriers to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Bulgarian TV channel BTV reports.
The TV channel’s report said:
“The first armoured personnel carrier was loaded onto a platform and left the base of the Gendarmerie General Directorate in Sofia for the railway station in Novi Iskar.”
Earlier, the Bulgarian government announced the shipment of 100 decommissioned armoured personnel carriers from the arsenals of the Interior Ministry to Ukraine. The equipment was donated to Kyiv following a decision by the country’s National Assembly.
Along with the latest package of military aid to Kyiv, the Bulgarian authorities promised to send arms that remained in Bulgaria since the Soviet times – spare parts for S-300 missile launchers, old S-300 missiles, armoured personnel carriers, shells, mortars and other equipment.
In December, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky tweeted his gratitude for the delivery of armoured personnel carriers and a new military aid package from Bulgaria.
