At least 112 people have been injured due to a gas pipeline fire in Malaysia’s Subang Jaya city, Asian media reported on Tuesday.
The fire department later clarified that it would take about four hours to tackle the fire in the Putra Heights area. The pipeline is 18 kilometres long. The fire started at 8:10 a.m. local time.
Sixty-three people have been taken to hospitals with burns and other injuries. Residents of the nearby neighbourhood are being evacuated. More than 47 homes were damaged.
Experts say the burning will continue until the gas remaining inside is exhausted.
The gas pipeline is owned by state-owned energy company Petronas. It said nearby petrol stations were unaffected.
