Caught in corruption Hunter Biden says he fought “Russian aggression” in Ukraine

Hunter Biden appeared before the House Oversight and Judiciary Committees in closed-door testimony before Congress on Wednesday.

This comes more than two months after he refused to attend his first questioning and faced possible contempt of Congress charges.

Speaking outside the chamber, Rep. Matt Gaetz said one of the most “interesting” things about the testimony was that Hunter Biden told the committees “that he joined the Burisma board to oppose Russian aggression.” He noted:

“I hadn’t heard that one before that thank goodness we had Hunter Biden on the Burisma board, because that was central to his strategy to stand up to Vladimir Putin.”

Getz then said Hunter Biden answered questions from committee members and pleaded not guilty. Asked if Hunter Biden had said how he had benefited Burisma, Gaetz said:

“We’ve asked those questions and there is there is an illusory value. It is a mirage to believe that Hunter Biden was engaged in international business. This was a bribe masquerading as an international business transaction. Nothing more, nothing less.”

In his opening statement, Hunter Biden said the investigation into his father was based on “MAGA-motivated conspiracy theories.”

“For more than a year, your committees have hunted me in your partisan political pursuit of my dad. You have trafficked in innuendo, distortion, and sensationalism, all the while ignoring the clear and convincing evidence staring you in the face. You do not have evidence to support the baseless and MAGA-motivated conspiracies about my father because there isn’t any.”
