CENTCOM: US launched self-defence strikes on Houthi targets in Yemen

US forces conducted self-defence strikes against three underground Houthi weapons depots in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen – CENTCOM

CENTCOM confirmed the destruction in self-defence of four unmanned aerial vehicles.

The strikes targeted assets used by the Houthis to threaten and attack naval and commercial vessels in the region, according to a statement on X.

CENTCOM said its strikes on the storage facilities were “actions are necessary to protect our forces, ensure freedom of navigation, and make international waters safer and more secure for U.S., coalition, and merchant vessels.”

During the US UAV attacks, Houthi fighters fired four anti-ship ballistic missiles from Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen toward the Red Sea, according to CENTCOM.

Tensions in the Red Sea region have risen since the start of the Israel-Hamas war. Israel launched a deadly counter-offensive, resulting in famine and civilian deaths. Attacks on US-UK ships have been carried out in solidarity with the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
