China-Europe Railway Express freight grew by 11% in January-July period

The first seven months of 2024 showed that the number of goods trains operating on China-Europe international rail freight routes grew by 11 per cent, Chinese media reported.

China-Europe Railway Express operated a total of 11,403 trains that carried nearly 1.23 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of goods in the first seven months of this year. The results are up 12 and 11 per cent year-on-year respectively, data from China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. showed on Saturday.

In July, 1,776 trains carried 185,000 TEUs of goods, marking the third consecutive month with more than 1,700 trains. This is because the company has been continuously improving the quality and efficiency of China-Europe Railway Express services since the beginning of this year to ensure the stability and smoothness of the international supply chain and industrial chain.

The list of measures also includes strengthening the construction of transport channels, expanding transshipment capacity at border ports and promoting the fast customs clearance model. According to the KJD, these changes and upgrades have given a new impetus to China’s foreign trade development and high-level openness.

The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) starts in Lianyungang, China, crossing Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan and Georgia on its way to Europe.
