China imposes sanctions on 12 US military-linked companies

Chinese authorities announced measures against 12 companies involved in the US military-linked complex and their top executives, Reuters reported.

China imposed the sanctions on Wednesday in response to the US arming Taiwan and sanctions against Chinese companies. The US military-linked companies included divisions of Lockheed Martin, Raytheon and General Dynamics, China’s foreign ministry reported.

The measures also include freezing assets in China and banning top executives from entering the country.

The decision follows the US “indiscriminately imposing unlawful unilateral sanctions on a number of Chinese entities on the basis of so-called Russia-related factors,” the Chinese ministry said. China claimed the US “ignored its objective and impartial position in the Ukrainian crisis.” Authorities said Washington was “engaged in unilateral bullying and economic coercion.”

China noted that the U.S. also continues to sell arms to Taiwan. The move “seriously violates” the one-China principle and joint communiqués between the two countries. It also “seriously undermines” China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
