China ready to co-operate with France on keeping open global trade, economic environment

China is ready to co-operate with France on strengthening coordination in multilateral international affairs and maintaining an open and co-operative international trade and economic environment, Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng said on Thursday at the 10th China-France High-Level Economic and Financial Dialogue.

He Lifeng represented the Chinese side at the meeting, while Eric Lombard, Minister of the French Ministry of the Economy, Finance, Industry and Digital Sovereignty, participated on behalf of France.

The Vice Premier of the State Council of the PRC recalled that last year China and France celebrated the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, and the heads of the two states reached a number of important consensuses on deepening bilateral relations and co-operation.

According to him, China is ready to work with France to implement these agreements, strengthen coordination in multilateral international affairs, ensure an open and co-operative international trade and economic environment, enrich bilateral economic and financial co-operation, utilising the potential for mutually beneficial co-operation and creating a favourable trade and investment environment in order to give new impetus to the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and France and promote a new stage of development in China-Europe co-operation.

Lombard noted that France attaches great importance to its relations with China and is ready to cooperate with it in addressing global challenges such as climate change, as well as in upholding the principles of multilateralism and free trade.

France will continue to supply high-quality products to the Chinese market and promote the improvement of the business environment to attract more Chinese investment, as well as strive for more fruitful results in practical economic and financial co-operation between the two countries, Lombard added.

During the dialogue, representatives of China and France held in-depth exchanges of views on many issues and signed documents on bilateral co-operation in the field of poultry farming.
