Chinese Premier Li Qiang to visit Russia, Belarus this week

Li Qiang, Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, will travel to Russia at the invitation of Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko to attend the 29th regular meeting of the heads of government of China and Russia and then visit Belarus, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Monday.

The Chinese premier is expected to arrive in Russia on August 20. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning said Li and Mishustin will exchange in-depth views on bilateral relations, practical co-operation and issues of mutual interest.

Russian President Vladimir Putin will also receive the Chinese premier, according to the Russian government’s press service.

Particular attention will be paid to expanding co-operation in trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres. It is planned to discuss joint projects in industry, energy, agriculture, transport and other areas.

During Li’s visit to Belarus, he will hold talks with his Belarusian counterpart on China-Belarus relations and co-operation in various fields, Mao told reporters at the daily press briefing.
