A Colombian national has been ordered to leave Poland and banned from the Schengen zone for five years after performing a Nazi salute at the site of the former Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp. The swift judicial resolution underscores Poland’s strict zero-tolerance policy towards the desecration of Holocaust memorials.
Immediate expulsion and Schengen ban
The Polish Border Guard confirmed on Friday that the foreigner had been issued with a compulsory departure order. The decision, handed down by the commander of the Border Guard unit in Kraków, ensures the man is barred from re-entering not only Poland but all 29 states within the European Schengen area for half a decade.
Following his detention, the man was charged with propagating Nazism and desecrating a site of remembrance. Local media reports indicate the tourist admitted guilt and voluntarily accepted a summary fine of 2,000 zlotys (approximately £400). However, the administrative penalty did not absolve him of the immigration consequences.

Authorities reiterated that the site of the former concentration camp demands the highest standard of conduct. The prompt deportation serves as a stark warning that acts of historical revisionism and performative hatred on Polish soil will be met with the full force of the law, terminating a visitor’s trip immediately and leaving a lasting mark on their international travel record.
