Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković announced on Monday that parliament will be dissolved no later than 22 March.
Plenković, who is also president of the ruling Croatian Democratic Union, also said President Zoran Milanović could call parliamentary elections within 30-60 days after the dissolution.
The elections would take place before the European Parliament elections scheduled for 6-9 June, he said, adding that these decisions had been approved by coalition partners.
Current polls show that Plenković’s HDZ has the support of 25,2 percent, the opposition Social Democratic Party 17,3 percent. It is followed by the clerical Most with 8,7, the paternal movement with 8,5 and Mogeme with 8,1 percent.
Plenković has been prime minister of Croatia since October 2016 and became the country’s longest-serving prime minister since the first multiparty elections in 1990.
