DOJ fires federal prosecutor Moran Comey, daughter of ex-FBI head James Comey

The US Department of Justice has fired prosecutor Moran Comey from the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office. She was involved in cases involving rapper Sean Combs (“Diddy”) and financier Jeffrey Epstein, who was accused of sexually exploiting minors.

The official reason for her dismissal has not been given.

Media reports say that the prosecutor was handed a memo citing the president’s authority to dismiss employees under the Second Amendment to the US Constitution. Moran Comey is the daughter of former FBI Director James Comey, who was fired by Donald Trump in May 2017 during his first term as president.

A CNN source said that “being a Comey in this administration is unacceptable,” explaining the dismissal of the former FBI director’s daughter. Jeffrey Epstein was arrested in July 2019 on charges of sexual crimes against minors and organising prostitution.

The youngest of the victims was 14 years old. A month later, he died in his prison cell. Last week, the FBI and Attorney General Pam Bondi reiterated the official version that Jeffrey Epstein committed suicide and was not murdered. The FBI also insists that the financier did not have a “client list,” the existence of which many activists insist on.

Rapper Sean Combs is accused of sexual exploitation and involvement in prostitution. He faces up to 20 years in prison and is currently under arrest.
