Düsseldorf police say pizza order No. 40 came with side of cocaine

Police in Düsseldorf busted a drug trafficking gang on Tuesday that was selling cocaine through a pizzeria.

According to police, the pizzeria in Düsseldorf’s Old Town had been selling pizza number 40 with an unusual garnish on top for months. By placing an order, anyone interested could buy cocaine. According to criminal police chief Michael Graf von Moltke, it was one of the best-selling pizzas.

The first suspicion of illegal activities of the pizzeria arose in March 2024 during a grocery check. From that moment on, the establishment began to be monitored by the drug offences investigation unit.

The seller of cocaine pizza was a 36-year-old man who had never been on law enforcement’s radar before. But when police came to search the place, he threw a huge bag of drugs out the window.

“It fell right into the hands of the police officers. They seized 1.6kg of cocaine, 400 grams of marijuana and 268,000 euros,” police said.

But the operator of the pizzeria decided to let him go in order to trace the supply chain. This is how the police managed to find the drug trafficker. He turned out to be a 22-year-old man who dealt in both cocaine and cannabis. He also attacked and robbed rival dealers.

In addition to the main drug dealer, police also arrested two other suspects involved in the drug pizza case, men aged 28 and 30. The police also found two cannabis plantations in both Solingen and Mönchengladbach. During the searches, knives, stabbing weapons, a pistol, expensive watches and cash were confiscated.
