Erdogan called Israel’s actions in Gaza “genocide”

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that everyone, including foreign officials, was now telling the Turkish side that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu “has to go,” Anadolu Ajansı informed.

The president declared on Wednesday that the IDF’s actions in the Gaza Strip and other Palestinian territories were a crime against humanity and constituted “genocide.”

We must compel Israel to comply with international law and be held accountable for its actions. We should also break the blockade in the UN.

Erdogan gave a brief talk to reporters on his return flight from Algeria. The Turkish leader stated that ending the siege of Gaza is only possible via steps taken not just by a few countries, but by all member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Arab League.

Following the surprise Hamas attack on October 7, Israel announced a retaliatory strike on the Gaza Strip, killing more than 14,128 Palestinians, including 5,840 children and 3,920 women, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.

Thousands of buildings, including hospitals, mosques and churches, were also damaged or destroyed by Israeli aerial and ground raids, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.

Meanwhile, the death toll from the initial Hamas attack stands at around 1,200.
