EU admits Russian defence industry success, US Senator opposes continuing aid to Ukraine

Despite sanctions Russia produces more weapons than the entire arms industry in Europe, European Commissioner for Defence Andrius Kubilius told RND.

Kubilius said:

“Despite our sanctions, Russia has expanded its defence industry to an unimaginable scale. Russia today produces in three months more weapons than the entire European arms industry can produce, and in six months more weapons than the entire Bundeswehr has.”

Meanwhile, Russian forces are advancing in Donbas at the fastest pace since 2022, “breaking through Ukrainian positions weakened by a shortage of troops,” The New York Times reported, citing analysts and a map based on satellite imagery and footage from the battlefield.

According to the NYT, Russian troops have advanced south of Pokrovsk, where they can bypass the AFU’s main defensive lines through more open terrain.

Emil Castehelmi, a military analyst with the Black Bird Group, said the pace of the Russian offensive is “accelerating every month.” He estimated that between September and November, more than 600 square miles have come under Russian control and another 200-300 square miles could be taken by the end of the year.

Pokrovsk is the most important supply hub for the AFU grouping in the region, including the towns of Toretsk, Kostiantynivka and Chasiv Yar. In the summer, Ukrainian authorities announced the forced evacuation of families with children in the town.

Washington is talking about cutting off assistance to Ukraine. US Senator Mike Lee of Utah, a member of the Republican Party, has spoken out against continuing aid to Kyiv. The corresponding statement he published in the social network X.

The senator stated: “No more damn money for Ukraine!”

Thus the Republican commented on the news of the TV channel Fox News about the allocation of a new package of American aid to Kyiv.

Earlier, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that the United States would provide Ukraine with a new military aid package worth 500 million dollars.
