EU allocates almost €5bn under Erasmus+ to support education, training in 2025

The EU Erasmus+ programme will support study exchanges abroad and partnerships in education, training, youth and sport worth around €5 billion in 2025. On November 19, the European Commission published a call for proposals for the Erasmus+ 2025 programme, which means a 6.5% increase in funding compared to last year, EU Neighbours East reports.

The calls are mainly open to EU and programme countries, but a number of Erasmus+ activities are open to organisations from non-participating third countries, including Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.

In line with the priority areas outlined in the Erasmus+ programme for 2021-2027, the competition will continue to support a wide range of projects aimed at promoting social inclusion, green and digital transitions, and youth participation in democratic life, the European Commission said in a press release.

The Commission also said that the Erasmus+ programme will continue to support Ukraine’s education system, as well as students and teachers based in Ukraine or who have moved to the EU. In 2023, the Erasmus+ programme is also funding the printing and delivery of 500,000 textbooks in Ukrainian. A further 1 million art and computer science textbooks were provided to Ukrainian schools this year. A third batch is planned for the 2025-2026 school year.
