The European Parliament has adopted on Thursday a resolution calling on the EU member states to immediately lift all restrictions on the Ukrainian army’s strikes deep into Russian territory. 425 MPs voted in favour of the document, 131 MPs voted against it and another 63 abstained.
The document says that the EP “calls on” the EU member states to “immediately lift restrictions” on weapons supplied to Ukraine “against legitimate military targets” on the Russian territory.
As an explanation for this position, it is stated that such a ban “impedes the ability” of Kyiv “to fully exercise its right to self-defence in accordance with international law” and also makes Ukraine “vulnerable.”
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg backed the decision of Britain and France, which were in favour of allowing Kyiv to use Western long-range missiles. Stoltenberg is convinced that the Alliance is still staying out of direct conflict.
The European Parliament’s resolution is advisory in nature and does not oblige the EU institutions or EU countries to implement it, but in fact the EP is pushing the world even closer to World War III.
Russian Army will receive serial samples of new means of defeat
The Russian Armed Forces will receive serial samples of new means of defeat, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on Wednesday.
Putin said that within the framework of the programme of comprehensive re-equipment of the army and navy, the troops will receive “not single, but serial samples of modern high-precision means of defeat and armored vehicles, aviation, complexes of enemy detection and counter-battery warfare, control and communication systems.”
According to him, the Kremlin pays much attention to the rearmament of the army and navy through modernisation of existing weapons and creation of new ones. At the same time, it is noted that special attention is paid to training personnel to work with the new equipment. Putin also stressed:
“The effectiveness of use will directly depend on the personnel of the armed forces, on the level of their training and, above all, on the quality of combat training.”
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned the US that if Washington deploys long-range missiles in Germany, Russia will deploy similar missiles in the West’s strike zone. Meanwhile, a Security Council official said Ukraine was allegedly using the peace talks to give itself a “respite” amid military and domestic problems.
