EU to conduct military exercise MILEX24 in Germany

The European Union will hold the second military exercise of its rapid deployment force in Germany, the EU diplomatic mission said.

The exercise will take place from 25 November to December 10 with the participation of 15 EU member states and more than 1,700 military personnel. The purpose of the exercise is to test the compatibility of units from different EU states in planning and conducting military operations.

The exercise is part of the larger MILEX24 exercise, which also includes a command post exercise.

As part of the 2022 strategic plan, EU member states approved an action plan to strengthen the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) until 2030.

Once this plan is fully implemented by 2025, the EU will be able to rapidly deploy a European force of up to 5,000 troops that will be ready to respond to any crisis situation beyond its borders.

The EU noted that the association intends to hold regular military exercises to improve the interoperability of member states’ forces.
