Some Eurostar trains between London and Paris, as well as between Amsterdam and Brussels, have been cancelled or delayed due to a power failure on the high-speed line in France on Monday.
Eurostar passengers have faced delays and cancellations after a power cut on the railway in northern France.
According to the operator’s website, at least nine services between London and Paris have been cancelled and 15 more are delayed.
The outage occurred at around 8:30 a.m. local time and is expected to last until the end of the day, with trains being rerouted on slower lines.
Eurostar advises passengers to postpone their journeys if possible. In addition, trains between Brussels and Paris, as well as between Amsterdam and Paris, have been cancelled or delayed due to the closure of the high-speed line between Moussy and Longueuil in the Oise region.
SNCF has reported “serious disruptions” and the need for “major repairs” following a power supply problem.
Delays of between one and five hours are expected for Eurostar and other services operated by the company, including TGV inOui and Ouigo.
The London-Amsterdam, Brussels-Amsterdam, Brussels-London and Brussels-Cologne routes are operating as normal.
August is the peak season for cross-Channel travel due to school holidays, so traffic is usually heavier than usual.
The current disruption comes a month after a Eurostar train was evacuated between Brussels and London in northern France due to a power failure and shortly before two days of serious disruptions in the summer following accidents and cable thefts on the LGV Nord line.
