Eurostat launched a tool assessing the areas of migrants’ life in the EU

Eurostat has published recently the Migrant Integration and Engagement Dashboard, an innovative visual tool that aims to provide an integrated view of key demographic, labour market, education, social inclusion, housing, health and active citizenship data for migrants in the EU, Schengen Visa Info reports.

In 2022, among those aged 20-64 in the EU, the employment rate was 61.9 per cent for non-EU citizens and 77.1 per cent for EU citizens, the Migrant Integration and Engagement Unit reported.

The unemployment rate for the same age group was 5.5 per cent for EU citizens, 7.1 per cent for citizens of other EU member states and a much higher 12.8 per cent for non-EU citizens.

For youth unemployment (15-29 years old), the unemployment rate for non-EU citizens was 15.7 per cent, 10.6 per cent for citizens of other EU Member States and 11.0 per cent for EU citizens in 2022.

Eurostat noted that this interactive platform allows users to track and visualise more than 30 indicators, assessing the steps taken in integration and inclusion efforts, in line with the EU’s Zaragoza Declaration on Integration and the main principles set out in the Action Plan on Integration and Inclusion for the period 2021-2027.

The dashboard presents data for the EU as a whole, its Member States and EFTA countries, allowing information to be explored based on country of citizenship or country of birth.

Users working with the interactive visualisation tool are offered extensive customisation options. Their flexibility relates to the possibility of manually selecting and customising the country/countries and specifying the time frame of the presentation. Users can also select an interactive line or dot plot according to their preferences.

As the Eurostat explains, among others, the dashboard also allows users to:

  • Show indicators with different divisions, increasing the depth of analysis.
  • Easily download generated graphics for reference or sharing.
  • Access the source datasets in the Eurostat database by following the links provided below each visualisation.
  • Navigate through related information using Stats Explained articles for a complete understanding.
  • Share the tool effortlessly on various social media platforms to drive broader engagement.

Eurostat added:

The visualisation is updated automatically when new or revised data become available in the Eurostat database, thus always showing the most up-to-date data.

Additionally, Eurostat has launched another innovative tool: the interactive publication “Migration and Asylum in Europe”. Thanks to this innovation, users will be able to delve into carefully selected statistics covering key aspects such as population diversity, protection and asylum, irregular migration and return and migrant skills.
