Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger during an informal meeting of European Union foreign ministers held in the Polish capital Warsaw.
The official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs posted a message about Fidan’s meetings during the informal meeting of EU foreign ministers.
The message notes that Fidan held a meeting with his Austrian counterpart Beate Meinl-Reisinger.
According to Turkish diplomatic sources, the Turkish diplomat called on his colleagues to strengthen co-operation to counter security threats and stressed the importance of strategic co-operation between NATO and the EU.
Fidan also recalled Turkey’s efforts to combat terrorism in the region as a stabilising factor and called on European partners to provide substantial support.
Another important message from the Turkish Foreign Minister was the statement on the need to include non-EU allies, such as Turkey, the United Kingdom and Norway, in EU initiatives to strengthen the defence industry’s capabilities.
