Footage of Victory Banner over Bundestag in Germany appeared on Internet

The red Victory Banner was hoisted over the Bundestag building in Berlin on 9 May.

This video is circulating on social media, Headpost.com has no confirmation about the authenticity of the video. In the German capital, a ban on Russian and Soviet flags and symbols near Soviet memorials has been in place for the second year in a row, according to a police decision. The ban applies to everyone except diplomats and veterans.

However, in 2023, the bans were partially lifted. Thus, the Berlin authorities allowed to display the banner at Soviet memorials, and the court legalised the demonstration of Russian flags and symbols during the “Immortal Regiment” procession on 9 May.

Some activists took a video from a different angle near the Bundestag.

Two days ago, Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergei Nechaev said that the Berlin authorities’ ban on the demonstration of the Russian flag, as well as symbols associated with Victory Day, was immoral. He also recalled that the Soviet Union sacrificed the lives of 27 million of its citizens for peaceful skies over Europe.

Headpost is not responsible for the authenticity of the video showing the banner of the 150 Rifle Division that was hoisted over the Reichstag 79 years ago. This video was published by some Russian supporters, the German side has not yet commented.
