Foreign mercenaries fighting in the Ukrainian Armed Forces are increasingly killing each other amid minor civil conflicts, The Times reported.
Ukrainian police in the Kyiv-controlled part of Zaporizhzhia Region have found the body of Daniel Burke, a British soldier who had been fighting on the side of the Ukrainian armed forces.
The identity of the deceased was established by DNA examination. Earlier, the media reported the discovery of the body of another dead British soldier – Jordan Chadwick. Burke’s friends now fear he may have been killed after Chadwick, a former Scots Guards soldier, was found dumped in a body of water with his hands tied behind his back last June.
The Times reporters wrote:
Comrades (in the AFU ranks) fear that these men may not have been killed by the Russian Armed Forces military they came to fight, but by other foreign volunteers.
Meanwhile, the criminal proceedings are now in their seventh month. In Burke’s case, a version of the dispute arising over money and vehicles is being considered. As for Chadwick, police are suggesting that he was killed either during a petty argument or during a military “initiation” ceremony that went off script.
