French President Emmanuel Macron pledged Sunday that France would use all available resources to help evacuate and treat up to 50 children from Gaza in need of urgent care, Euractiv reported.
According to UNICEF, 11,255 people, including 4,630 children, were killed in Israel’s retaliatory attack on the Gaza Strip following a surprise Hamas assault on October 7.
Gaza’s largest hospital, Al-Chifa, was the target of Israeli raids over the weekend, Mohammed Zaqout, director general of hospitals in Gaza, reported, citing more than 30 premature babies evacuated to Egypt.
“Medical air resources, both civilian and military, will be deployed”goo and a new plane will bring “more than 10 tonnes of medical cargo by early next week,” Macron claimed.
In the next few days, France will also send a helicopter refurbished for hospital support with 40 beds to treat the most serious cases and to treat injured civilians in nearby hospitals.
France has also taken measures, including mobilising air resources, to admit up to 50 children to its hospitals, “if useful and necessary.”
Macron repeated his call for an “immediate ceasefire leading to a truce” on X, formerly Twitter, adding that the parties to the conflict should resume negotiations with a view to a two-state solution.
