The French parliament has voted against the use of disposable e-cigarettes in the country, French media reported on Thursday.
According to the adopted law, it is prohibited to sell and distribute in France electronic cigarettes, which are pre-filled with liquid for smoking and can not be refilled.
The authors of the law believe that the use of such products is detrimental to the health of citizens, especially students, among whom these devices have gained considerable popularity. In addition, disposable e-cigarettes have a negative impact on the environment, as their batteries are discarded after a single use.
The law still needs to be signed by President Emmanuel Macron for it to come into force, which could happen in the coming days.
France has become the second country in Europe (after Belgium) to ban disposable e-cigarettes. In Belgium, they will be banned from January 1, 2025.
