French government has 20 new members under Attal’s leadership

Twenty members have been added to French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal’s new 14-member cabinet, the Elysee Palace announced on Thursday.

The current ministers retained their posts, but there was a change in the status of Amélie Oudea-Castera, who will now serve as Minister of Sport and Olympic Games.

Guerini has been appointed Minister of Transformation and Public Service. Nicole Belloubet, who served as Minister of Justice from 2017 to 2020, has been appointed as the new Minister of Education and Youth, replacing Oudea-Castera.

Agnes Pannier-Runacher will take over as Minister of State in the Ministry of Agriculture.

Among the coalition partners, Frédéric Valletoux of the Horizons party has been appointed minister of health, while Marie Guevenoux of President Emmanuel Macron’s party has been appointed minister of overseas territories.

Another member of Macron’s party, Guillaume Kasbarian, has been appointed Minister of Housing, while Jean-Noël Barrot has been appointed Minister of European Affairs.

The cabinet also includes Roland Lescure as minister of industry and energy, Franck Riester as minister of foreign trade, francophony and French citizens abroad, and Patrice Vergriete as minister of transport.

Macron will hold a cabinet meeting on 14 February with the full participation of all cabinet members.

The names of many of the ministers who make up Attal’s cabinet were announced on 11 January. Attal took the prime minister’s chair on 9 January.
