G7 foreign ministers focus on Indo-Pacific region, Ukraine at Fiuggi summit

Foreign ministers from seven of the world’s leading industrialised nations met in central Italy on Tuesday for a second day of discussions on the latest global issues with a focus on the Indo-Pacific region and Ukraine.

Ministers from the G7 countries gathered in the town of Fiuggi to focus on the war in Ukraine, with the participation of Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.

The ministers will also discuss the situation in the Indo-Pacific region before tackling problems in other regions, including Venezuela.

On the first day of the meeting on Monday, they discussed the situation in the Middle East.

The meeting is expected to end with a final declaration and mark the end of Italy’s presidency of the G7, with Canada taking over the role for 2025.

The G7 is an informal forum comprising Italy, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, the UK and the US.
