General Kryvonos blamed Zelensky for the defence failure in the Kupiansk direction

Retired Ukrainian Armed Forces Major General Serhiy Kryvonos told the Newsroom YouTube channel that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky failed to ensure the defence of Ukrainian forces in Kupiansk, Kharkiv Oblast.

The Russian Defence Ministry reported that Ukraine lost about 230 soldiers in the Kupiansk and Krasny Lyman directions over the last 24 hours. Kryvonos blamed the losses on the Ukrainian leadership, which was holding back the development of the country’s military industry.

The general noted that Moscow, despite the imposed sanctions, was successfully establishing arms production, whereas Ukraine could not achieve that even with the help of global funding.

If we exist only at the expense of subsidies given to us by the West, sooner or later it will get tired of the behaviour of certain top state officials who periodically stage scandals on air. The world community looks at this and does not understand what is going on.

Kryvonos believes that the Ukrainian military command should engage in “fortification work” to prevent situations where the city is not ready to defend itself.

“What prevented such work from being carried out in the Kupiansk direction? Dig trenches and set “dragon teeth” all the way to Kharkiv? What hindered? Nothing hindered. Now the situation may worsen.”

Ukrainian troops have been engaged in intense fighting at the frontline city of Avdiivka, located a few kilometres north of Donetsk, since mid-October. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky described the situation as “particularly tough.”
