Greek PM Mitsotakis vows to focus on economy and reforms

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis pledged to focus on the economy and reforms amid continued criticism over his party’s results in European elections.

He made his pledges during a discussion he attended at an international panel in Athens on Tuesday, 2 July.

We will push for a reform agenda. The elections will be held in 2027, and we will be judged for the results we have produced at the end of this four-year period.

Asserting that Greece’s growth performance was higher than the EU average, he declared that protecting citizens’ disposable incomes and reducing unemployment was the government’s top economic priority.

Mitsotakis also argued that despite the weak results of the ruling New Democracy party, it remained the country’s main political force. The party continued to attract the largest number of centrist and national-oriented voters, he stated.
