Gulf skies become new front as Iran launches missiles and drones at UAE

Air defence crews in the United Arab Emirates have intercepted multiple rockets and drones fired from Iranian territory, local media said on Friday, as regional tensions threaten to spiral into open conflict following strikes on US naval assets in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to journalists, the UAE’s air defence systems are actively engaged in neutralising airborne threats.

“The UAE’s air defence forces are working intensively to counter missile and drone attacks originating from Iran,” a media statement read.

On Thursday evening, the US Central Command said American forces had targeted Iranian military installations believed to be responsible for attacks on warships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. The Pentagon stressed that Washington “does not seek an escalation.”

In response, a spokesperson for Iran’s armed forces claimed that US airstrikes had hit civilian areas. Earlier, the Iranian military command accused Washington of violating a ceasefire following air raids on certain areas inside Iran. In retaliation, Iranian forces carried out strikes against American vessels.

Later, US president Donald Trump insisted that the ceasefire between the United States and Iran remained in effect, despite the recent hostilities.
