A Palestinian militant group released a 37-second video on the 100th day of the Israel-Hamas war. The Israeli hostages call on their government to “stop the offensive” and “bring them home,” THE WEEK reports.
The undated video shows the hostages, identified as 26-year-old Noa Argamani, 53-year-old Yossi Sharabi and 38-year-old Itai Svirsky. It ends with the words, “Tomorrow we will inform you of their fate.” Israel labelled it deplorable psychological warfare.
Hamas reported on Sunday that it had lost contact with some hostages during the shelling of Gaza by Israeli forces. A spokesman for the armed wing, Abu Ubaida, stated:
Most likely, many of them were killed recently, the rest are in great danger every hour and the enemy’s leadership and army bear full responsibility.
Ubaida added that “several parties in the resistance fronts will expand their strikes against the Israeli enemy in the coming days.”
Meanwhile, families of the hostages continue to call for their release, with some urging Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to conclude another truce or even end the war. The families declared themselves “frustrated and suffocated” by the lack of progress in a deal to free the hostages.
Israel argues that a military operation needs time. IDF spokesman Rear-Admiral Daniel Hagari stated on Sunday:
It obligates us to be precise, and we are adapting it in accordance with the threats and the hostages who are in the field.
Protests are taking place around the world, both in support of Palestine and Israel.
