The Gaza-based Palestinian Hamas movement announced that it is ready to immediately release all remaining Israeli prisoners, Al Jazeera reported.
The group issued a statement outlining its position in the second phase of ceasefire talks in the Gaza Strip.
“Hamas proposes to exchange all Israeli captives and Palestinian prisoners “in one fell swoop” in the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire talks in order to achieve a permanent truce and a complete Israeli withdrawal,” the channel reported.
Hamas rejects Israel’s demand for disarmament
Meanwhile, Hamas rejected the Israel’s demand for disarmament and withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem said.
“The condition of Hamas’ removal from the Gaza Strip is ridiculous psychological warfare, and the withdrawal or disarmament of the resistance from Gaza is unacceptable,” he said, as quoted by Al Jazeera.
“Any agreement on the future of the Gaza Strip will be reached through national consensus,” Qassem added.
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said on Tuesday that Tel Aviv would not allow Hamas to maintain its presence in Gaza after the end of military operations. He said Tel Aviv also demands the complete disarmament of Gaza.
