Hamas says it lost contact with group responsible for five Israeli hostages

Hamas lost contact with the group responsible for five Israeli hostages held captive in the Gaza Strip due to Israeli bombardment.

The Palestinian group believes the hostages were killed in an Israeli raid, Abu Ubaida, a spokesman for Hamas’ armed wing said on the group’s Telegram channel.

Israeli authorities have not yet responded.

Last month, Hamas said more than 60 hostages were missing as a result of Israeli airstrikes. In addition, Israel believes that 20 or more of the 130 hostages still held in Gaza are dead.

Israel released more than 100 hostages as part of a week-long ceasefire agreement in late November.
