Harris blasts Trump’s policies in 1st speech since leaving office

Americans need to unite to oppose US President Donald Trump and not drift apart, former Vice President and ex-candidate for the US presidency Kamala Harris said on Wednesday.

The defeated Democrat told her supporters that the apparent “chaos” of the past three months was in fact the realisation of a long-held plan by conservatives who are using Trump to manipulate the US for their own interests.

“In the face of crisis, the lesson is, don’t scatter,” Harris said.

In her biggest speech since stepping down, at the Leading Women Defined summit, Harris called on Americans to act together and speak out. She called the Trump administration’s economic policies “the greatest man-made economic crisis in modern presidential history.”

Harris, who is believed to be planning to run for governor of her home state of California in 2026 or possibly run for the White House in 2028, has largely remained out of the spotlight since leaving Washington in January.

Earlier, US media reported that US President Donald Trump had fired Kamals’ husband Douglas Emhoff from his position on the board of the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington.
