Harris’ campaign officially crossed $500 million mark, O’Malley Dillon says

US Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign has so far raised $540 million for her run against Republican nominee, former President Donald Trump, AP News said.

Shortly after President Joe Biden announced on 21 July that he was ending his campaign and henceforth backing Harris in her for the Oval Office, the campaign had no trouble getting donations or donor contributions.

During the Democratic National Convention last week in Chicago, where Harris and her vice presidential running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, accepted their nominations, the campaign also claimed to have encountered a number of large donations.

“Just before Vice President Harris’ acceptance speech Thursday night, we officially crossed the $500 million mark. Immediately after her speech, we saw our best fundraising hour since launch day,” her campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillon said.

She said nearly a third of the contributions during the week of the convention came from first-time contributors. The campaign says it also saw a surge in volunteer support for the vice president, as supporters signed up for nearly 200,000 volunteer shifts to help the campaign during the week of the convention.

Trump, for his part, also claimed serious funds, but presumably is still behind in his month-long campaign. Trump’s campaign and its affiliates announced earlier this month that they raised $138.7 million in July. Trump’s campaign reported $327 million in cash on hand in early August.
