Heil Tesla: Musk’s controversial salute beamed at German factory

An image of Elon Musk making a controversial salute during his Monday’s speech was projected onto the Tesla Gigafactory in Berlin with the words “Heil Tesla.”

Elon Musk, the world’s richest man and a close ally of US President Donald Trump, is facing multiple accusations of making a WWII gesture twice while speaking at an indoor Presidential Parade on Monday.

While giving a speech at Washington’s Capital One Arena, Musk said, “I just want to say thank you for making it [Trump’s presidential election victory] happen,” before clapping his hand on his chest and extending his arm forward with his palm facing downwards.

However, the billionaire urged not to over-analyse his action as it had nothing to do with the German WWII salute. He also labelled the criticism as “dirty tricks” and “propaganda.”

Two activist groups, Led By Donkeys from the UK and the Centre for Political Beauty from Germany, claimed responsibility for the projection at the Tesla factory in Berlin.

Meanwhile, Musk’s salute resonated with some extremely national-oriented groups, with some leaders sharing videos of a viral moment from Monday’s speech.
