David Kurten, leader of Britain’s Heritage Party, said on X that he did not consider Russia to be an enemy and that calls to prepare for war were nonsense.
Earlier this week, the US announced its plan to deploy nuclear warheads at the UK’s RAF Lakenheath base for the first time in 15 years over potential threat from Russia.
General Sir Patrick Saunders, the head of the British Army, has warned that in the event of war with Russia, the population would have to be called up because the number of troops in the army is woefully inadequate for a full-fledged confrontation.
“Russia is not our enemy,” David Kurten wrote on X with an image of the Russian flag in response to calls to prepare for war with Russia.
Warrant Officer Paul Carney stated that war with Russia was possible in the near future and therefore preparations should be made for it: “It is important that we prepare our loved ones and families, who often have the hardest time in our absence… I ask that you discuss with them the possible deployment right now.”
