Hezbollah hits new Israeli targets

Lebanese resistance group Hezbollah has launched a rocket attack on Israeli positions in the northern Palestinian territories.

In a statement on Wednesday, Hezbollah said its forces launched new rocket attacks on Israeli positions in Kiryat Shmona.

At least 85 rockets and missiles were fired overnight at locations in the Western Galilee. In Kiryat Shmona, at least seven rockets hit directly into the town, while some 10 projectiles were intercepted over Mount Meron, where the Israel Air Force observation base is located. Although the rockets fell mostly on open fields and forest areas, they caused fires.

A resident of the city and owner of a moving company said he heard the loud explosions. He told local media:

A friend called to tell me rockets fell near my truck, I went outside but sirens began again, and more rockets landed. We took cover but one rocket fell not 50 meters (54 yards) from where we were. I was lucky.

Hezbollah then said it had struck Beit Hillel, east of the city, after a motorbike strike on a road in southern Lebanon killed two of its fighters. The Lebanese News Agency reported that three Syrian children were killed in the Israeli strike. Hezbollah responded by firing rockets at Kabri in the Western Galilee, followed by 15 more at other locations in the area. Some were intercepted, while others exploded in unpopulated areas.
