Houthis hit USS Eisenhower with cruise, ballistic missiles

Armed forces of Yemen conducted the operation against the USS Eisenhower in the Red Sea, Arab media reported.

Yemen on Friday said its armed forses launched the operation against the US aircraft carrier Eisenhower in the Red Sea as a response to a US-British attack. Also, cruise and ballistic missiles deployed in the attack.

Tensions flared after airstrikes on Hodeidah killed 16 people and wounded 41, including injured in airstrikes on civilian targets. The radio station in Hodeidah in front of Al-Thawrah Hospital and the coast guard at Al-Salif harbour came under attack. The total number of wounded is 58, including military personnel.

The armed forces spokesman said: “The US-British aggression carried out several airstrikes over the past hours on the capital, Sana’a, and the provinces of Hodeidah, and Taiz, leading to the martyrdom and injury of 58 citizens.”

Brigadier General Yahya Saree explained that the airstrikes were distributed as follows: four airstrikes on the capital Sana’a, injuring one person; two airstrikes on the province of Sana’a; and one airstrike on the neighbourhood of Haifan in the province of Taiz.

The Armed Forces of Yemen stressed that they will not hesitate to respond immediately and directly to any new aggression on Yemeni territory, targeting all sources of threat and all hostile American and British targets in the Red and Arabian Seas.

Tensions in Red Sea

After the outbreak of the conflict between Israel and Hamas, Yemenis have openly declared their support for the Palestinian struggle against Israel and made a decision to prevent Israeli ships from passing through the Red Sea in support of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

Since then, the Houthis have carried out more than 50 attacks on ships, seizing one vessel and sinking another, according to the US Maritime Administration. The threat has led to a significant reduction in shipping traffic through the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.

In addition, revolutionary leader Sayyed Abdulmalik said that the total number of ships attacked since the beginning of support operations is 129 ships. He remarked that US, British traffic has decreased and almost no Israeli traffic.
