Houthis pledged further support for Gaza after shooting down a tanker with cruise missile

A land-based cruise missile fired from Houthi-controlled Yemen targeted a commercial tanker, Reuters informed.

The attack on the STRINDA tanker vessel took place about 60 nautical miles (111 kilometres) north of the Bab al-Mandab Strait around 21:00 GMT, an US defence official reported. The US Navy destroyer USS Mason provided assistance to the vessel.

Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden stated during a White House Hanukkah reception that he still had disagreements with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, despite the US support for Israel’s offensive on the Gaza Strip.

Folks, were there no Israel, there wouldn’t be a Jew in the world that was safe.

Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant claimed Monday night that Hamas soldiers were surrendering en masse while Israeli forces were advancing in Jabaliya and Shijaiyah.

“The hard cores, long prepared to battle us, are nearing collapse. The volume of surrenders reveals the situation. Emerging from bunkers, they admit to lacking weapons and food. Among those surrendering are terrorists involved in the events of October 7.”

Gallant revealed that the IDF, which was also operating in southern Gaza, would expand its attacks to other parts of the territory they had not yet reached, and repeated his call for Hamas militants to “either surrender unconditionally or die.”

The Israel Defence Forces announced early Monday morning the deaths of three soldiers killed in Gaza Strip combat and another soldier killed in a car crash. So far, 104 troopers have been killed in the ground operation in Gaza.

Following the escalation of the situation on the northern border and amid rocket interceptions on Monday in the Ma’alot-Tarshiha neighbourhood in Upper Galilee, authorities announced the “cancellation of all educational activities today, including Hanukkah camps and all informal educational activities and all clubs.”

Members of the UN Security Council are expected to visit the Egyptian Rafah Crossing to get a first-hand view of the complex humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and the UN’s efforts to help the locals.

Rocket launches spotted from Lebanon towards Israeli territory on Monday morning triggered alarm sirens in several settlements near the northern border. Six of the launches were intercepted by air defence systems.

Gallant claimed that Hamas was capitalising on the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.

Hamas’ propaganda affects universities and protests, and money pours in that activates terrorist networks around the world.

US Presidential National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan is to visit Israel in order to meet with senior officials in Jerusalem and discuss increased humanitarian aid to Gaza.
