Peter Szijjarto has confirmed that Hungary has not been involved in arms deliveries to Ukraine and will never be a part of it.
Earlier, Hungary made a statement that it would not veto an increase in the European Peace Facility, which finances arms deliveries to Ukraine, but would not participate in its work.
On Friday, Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto reiterated that Hungary would never send arms to Ukraine:
“Hungary has never been part, and we will never be part of any actions which aim at delivering weapons to Ukraine. Simply because we do believe that the more weapons are being delivered to Ukraine, the longer the war will take and the longer the war takes, more destruction will take place and more people will die.”
In February, EU leaders agreed to allocate €50 billion in the bloc’s macro-financial assistance to Ukraine until 2027. One of Hungary’s conditions when the EU agreed to allocate €50 billion to Ukraine was that the money should not include arms deliveries.
