Hungary summoned US ambassador over Biden’s remarks

Hungary’s Foreign Ministry summoned US Ambassador David Pressman on Tuesday over President Joe Biden’s remarks that Prime Minister Viktor Orbán wanted to establish “dictatorship.”

Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó reported that Deputy Minister Levente Magyar hosted the American ambassador.

Since such a lie has been said in connection with the Hungarian prime minister, we summoned the ambassador of the United States to the ministry, who was here today. We asked the ambassador to present the quote and the time and place where the prime minister allegedly made such a statement.

Szijjártó declared that Hungary was “not obliged to take lies from anyone, even if that person is the president of the United States.”

US President Joe Biden stated during the presidential campaign in the US state of Pennsylvania on Friday that Orbán “doesn’t think democracy works and is looking for dictatorship.”
