Hunter Biden’s ex-girlfriend revealed his drug use at his criminal trial

The former girlfriend of Hunter Biden, son of US President Joe Biden, testified about his regular drug use in luxury hotels at his criminal trial for illegal gun purchases, according to Reuters.

Jurors heard that Hunter Biden allegedly used crack at the lavish Chateau Marmont hotel in Los Angeles. He also spent his days in hotel rooms getting high in the months before his 2018 gun purchase, according to his ex-girlfriend Zoe Kestan.

He would want to smoke as soon as he woke up.

Kestan testified at the first trial of the US president’s son, where prosecutors were trying to prove that Hunter Biden deliberately lied about his drug use during an ID check when he bought a revolver in October 2018.

Kathleen Buhle, who divorced him in 2017, was also testifying for 20 minutes. She described how she first discovered he was using drugs. In addition, prosecutors stated they planned to call Hallie Biden, the widow of his late brother Beau Biden.

Hunter Biden, 54, pleaded not guilty to three criminal charges. The accusations included concealing information about him using illegal drugs while buying a gun, as well as illegally possessing a gun for 11 days.

Biden publicly acknowledged his past drug use, including in his memoir. He told the judge in the 2023 hearing in the case that he had been sober since 2019.

Other allegations

On Wednesday, top US House Republicans investigating the impeachment of President Joe Biden asked the Justice Department to prosecute his brother James as well as Hunter for allegedly lying during their probe.

In late February, Hunter Biden also appeared before the House Oversight and Judiciary Committees, testifying in private before Congress on his involvement in the corruption scandal around the Ukrainian company Burisma.

The Ukraine-based Burisma Holdings is owned by Mykola Zlochevsky, former minister of ecology and natural resources of Ukraine. It also had links to the US president’s family, as Hunter Biden joined its board in 2014.
