A suicide bomber detonated an explosive device in the centre of Ankara on Sunday before the government began its work after the summer recess. A second bomber was killed during a confrontation  with police.

Two police officers were slightly injured during the attack near the Ministry of Interior Affairs, according to Minister Ali Yerlikaya said on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

“One of the terrorists blew himself up and the other was neutralized,” the ministry added.

So far there has been no information about the attackers.
