In Wonderland: Italy’s former PM lambasted Meloni

Italy’s former PM and head of the 5-Star Movement (M5S), Giuseppe Conte, again criticised incumbent Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

He wrote on X on Thursday:

Giorgia Meloni returned from her summer vacation euphoric, telling us that everything is fine and Italy is breaking records. She must have had a great vacation: in an enchanted masseria!

Conte said Italy ranked last in the G7 in health spending. Layoff payments were rising and Eurostat confirmed that real family income was falling, he added.

“Only Greece is doing worse than us, while Germany is soaring.”

The former prime minister stated that Italian families struggled to pay for medical care or buy books for their children.

Not a single euro of taxes on the huge extra profits of banks linked to the crisis, which we could instead allocate to families in difficulty. No to the minimum legal wage that would raise the salary of about 4 million workers, and 4 out of 10 young people.

He also called for less faith in government propaganda and focus on reality to improve the lives of citizens.
