Indian police investigate blast outside Israeli embassy

No staff members were killed or injured in Tuesday’s blast outside the Israeli embassy in New Delhi, local authorities said.

Police and other investigators arrived at the scene after learning of the blast and an investigation is underway.

Israel’s Foreign Ministry said the cause of the blast was unclear and Israeli security services are working with local Indian authorities to investigate the incident.

The reported explosion came amid widespread international outrage over nearly three months of Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip that have killed some 20,600 people and injured more than 55,000, most of them women and children.

In January 2021, a small bomb exploded outside the Israeli embassy in New Delhi without harming anyone. An Israeli official said at the time that Israel was treating the explosion as a terrorist incident.
