Iran condemned the terrorist attack in New Orleans, US, which killed 15 people. The attack occurred on New Year’s Day when a truck driver deliberately drove into a crowd in Louisiana, injuring more than 30 others.
In a statement on Friday, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baqaei reiterated firm of Iran stance against all forms of terrorism, regardless of the perpetrators or location. He offered condolences to the victims’ families and survivors.
The FBI identified the suspect as Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a 42-year-old military veteran from Texas. Investigators found a Daesh flag, weapons, and a suspected explosive device in his rented vehicle.
The FBI confirmed Jabbar was influenced by the Islamic State (IS). Officials reported he recorded videos pledging allegiance to the group, according to CNN.
