Iran unveils IRGC Navy’s advanced missile systems

Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, Commander of the IRGC Navy, recently stated that the new missile systems, naval equipment, and underground missile cities are only a small part of Iran’s broader defence capabilities. He made this comment on Sunday after the IRGC Navy unveiled a new underground base, which houses cruise missiles. These missiles target destroyers in Iran’s strategically vital southern waters.

Tangsiri explained that these advancements form part of a larger, more complex military structure designed to protect Iran’s sovereignty. He noted that the defence systems reflect cutting-edge technology that strengthens the country’s military power.

Building a Revolutionary Naval Force

Under the leadership of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the IRGC Navy has worked towards creating a highly mobile and advanced naval force. Iran stores its defence systems underground, ensuring their protection. These systems can also be deployed quickly when needed.

The newly unveiled missile systems use mobile launchers, which support the existing naval missile systems. This allows Iran to deploy these missiles inland, eliminating the need for coastal infrastructure. As a result, the country’s military operations have become more flexible and efficient.

Missile Technology and Strategic Advantages

Tangsiri highlighted the long-range capabilities of these missile systems. They can strike targets hundreds of kilometres away, even from deep within Iranian territory. This significantly strengthens Iran’s ability to protect its waters and respond to threats from distant locations.

The cruise missiles also feature advanced technology. They are highly accurate, fully manoeuvrable, and equipped with smart target-recognition systems. These innovations bring Iran’s missile technology on par with global standards.

In conclusion, Tangsiri warned foreign adversaries, particularly the United States and Israel, not to underestimate Iran’s military strength. He reassured the Iranian people that their security remains a top priority. The missile base unveiling followed a visit from IRGC Chief Commander Major General Hossein Salami, who inspected the readiness of the missile units stationed at the facility.
