Iraqi resistance strikes US bases in Syria and Iraq

The Islamic Resistance issued a statement on Wednesday evening saying they had struck a US base near Erbil airport in northern Kurdistan. There is no information on damage or casualties yet, Arab media reports.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Iraqi Islamic Resistance launched a missile strike on a US military base at the Koniko gas field in eastern Syria. The strike resulted in fatalities among US servicemen.

Iraq-based resistance groups have repeatedly launched missile and drone strikes on US bases across Iraq and Syria in recent weeks in retaliation for Israel’s continued war against Palestinians in Gaza.

The groups also resent the US military presence in the region, which they see as a source of instability, as well as US support for the Israeli regime in its ongoing war in Gaza. The US has 2,500 troops in Iraq and 900 in Syria.
